This collection is about the Shoah and the Nazi Holocaust. The in-depth study of the topic of human behavior over the years has allowed Simó to develop and consolidate a unique artistic language with which to explain concepts that belong to us. Simó has worked on the human figure from 1993 until today. This long evolution is concluded with the current style of the human figure that appears as a synthesis of the person, only one form, only a line that floats in space and time. The human being is nothing more than a form, color or emptiness that intertwines with its environment, modifying who we are in what we become. Dolors Simó has worked for three years in the pictorial collection called The Shoah and the Nazi Holocaust, of which there are more than 1200 works made of different sizes, the vast majority are made in oil on wood. The in-depth analysis of the Holocaust is based on having lived in Germany for some years. Consequently, it has been an inescapable responsibility for her to treat the issue of the Holocaust pictorially and with the language of the human figure. She has devoted herself extensively to analyzing historical facts as well as the diversity of feelings and emotions. The Shoah and the Nazi Holocaust speak to us all, regardless of where we were born and what we have lived. Behaving, being, acting as a human being is a matter of humanity, of which we are all responsible. Therefore, the Holocaust belongs not only to the past, but also to the present and the future, because it is in our hands to know the brutal dimension of human nature. The collection aims to disseminate the truth of what happened, to shape and color it through a visual language that tells us about the historical magnitude of the most outstanding events and, at the same time, the most intimate and vulnerable details. The artist always represents the members, symbols or aspects related to the Nazi side with silver-colored metal paint which speaks of power and pride. On the contrary, those who suffered from slavery, contempt, punishment in countless ways and who paid for it with death are represented with the colors of the skin, usually on a black background that symbolizes emptiness rather than death. The figures come out of this void to tell us about humanity or human degradation. Simó represents her colorful figures (the oppressed) with the utmost respect, they are the representation of dignity that does not fade even if it has already captured them death. The artist wishes the collection The Shoah and the Nazi Holocaust to serve as a cultural exchange, an educational and moving experience that allows a constructive dialogue for a better and healthier relationship between people. Currently the collection is having a good acceptance between educational and cultural entities such as the pedagogical collaboration with the Department of Education of the Government of Catalonia through the Cesire Center and the project of the 17 Global Goals (SDGs).
